Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday of next week, we’ll have 3 pickup times available. Best to stagger when you get there to avoid the rush. We’ll give a custom tote bag with year book, step-it-up prizes and any items to retrieve that were left in classroom.

- Julie Cailliet: Should we put up cones or anything to help with traffic?

PTO Updates – Julie Cailliet
2021 proposed budget: This year, we’ve had good collaboration between outgoing and incoming boards to come up with a plan.
Spirit shirt ad sales have been going well with a lot of returning ad buys. Really only need 2-3 more.
Daddy/Daughter dance is now a Family Dance. DD had been entirely donated food, so we’ll need to work out how that goes next.
Mother/Son night will probably move to a family event.
Hoe Down – Costs for this next year’s HD is much lower than typical because we’ve already paid for these due to virus change.
Book Sales and Turkey Trot both remain much the same.
Spring event yet to be decided upon by new board.
Not sure what next fundraisers will be, but we’ll bring back butter braids.
Spirit Shirt income is more accurately reflecting other costs, like taxes, so that is lower.
May do spirit nights over the summer.
Need to vote on some of the expenditures for next year.
Accelerated reader costs continue to go up. This year’s cost has gone up.
AP is talking to other principals on how we may be able to partner to lower costs.
Decreased teacher aids from 50k to 45k due to some moving to district-funded.
Stallion Strides needs PTO backing, but can also be funded by tax credit donations. Need to really push this because we only need 50 families to take advantage of this to fully fund Stallion Strides. Need to really message this.
Kiwanis: Can’t forget them. They exist to support our kids. We did a really good job of supporting them during our HTES Campaign Day. It’s important to keep them in mind as they are very significant donors for things like technology needs.
Need to vote on budget, we’ll do a simple slate vote.
Are we arranging with Step It Up for next year?
Don’t feel comfortable signing a contract at this time because we just have too many open questions for next year. The new board should really vote for this. JC is going to get Jason from Step It Up in touch with the new board.
Q: On the millionaire t-shirts, we usually do an ice-cream social for the millionaires, but can’t this year. Can we do that next year for returning students?
JC: Great idea, we should do that. Maybe we can also do an email blast.
TR (Tempe): This is usually paid out of the ‘undesignated’ line item, so we have room for that.
Q: How does site council fit in with PTO?
AP: This is a combination of community members that meet monthly, classified members, parents and teachers, so not directly tied to PTO but has a lot of representation, serves as a sounding board.
Q: Among millionaires, we have 1 that has hit 9M words, can we consider doing something special for this student and then keep that rolling YOY, like a plaque with the top kid’s name on it.
AP: Good plan to do this and figure out what to do. For this one particular kid, he will talk with the teachers to see what can be done.
Liz: We have some prizes from earlier years that are still available that we may be able to use.
Farewell to 2019-2020 board and welcome to the incoming board.
Co-Presidents: Winne Sarabia and Heather Mohrman
Co-Vice Presidents: Allison Summer and Stacey Leshner
Co-Treasurers: Tempe Robins and Liz Anderson
Co-Secretaries: Stephanie Liberatore and Michelle Rigsby
Co-Teacher Liaisons: Kathryn Letter and Sucheta Shah
Aaron Pettinato’s closing comments –
Thank you to the outgoing board. Presenting horseshoes for the outgoing members as a thank you.
Julie was to receive a CCUSD excellent award plaque for this year for the district, but was postponed due to the virus. She’s done an amazing job. Replaced Apex Fun Run with Turkey Trot, revamp’ed the web site and has been a strong and transparent presence that everyone has appreciated.
