Mr. Pettinato ? Overview of Stallion Strides Program with Liz Covert
- New Horsemanship program starting in Oct. 2019
- The program has been built to reinforce our core Stallion Strong attributes: STRONG
- Character, STRONG Work Ethic and STRONG Relationships
- it is ground-based program (not riding) with three unique 30 minute lessons over
- the course of one week, each focusing on one of the STRONG attributes
- 2 students will be partnered per horse, with a 6th-grade mentor and a trained
- facilitator (with a hope to keep these the same for each lesson that week)
- Horses will be onsite 21 days throughout the school year
- availability for 100 students each in Spring and Fall
- about 40 student spots open for each grade level (1-5 grades)
- biannual program; i.e. students unable to attend this year will be prioritized next year
- Kindergarteners and their 5th grade mentors (with permission) will go on a 45 minute 1st touch field trip to horse arena
- Enrolment Process for Grades 1-5:
- Student interest
- Parent permission
- Complete application
- Students will selected by a committee (names will be blacked out)
- 6th grade students must apply to become mentors
- applications will be decided on by Oct. 7th
- Mentor training held on Wednesday, Oct. 9th during half-day
- Parents are able to attend a session to view (but not accompany their own student); and parent volunteers will be requested for walking ?transport? between the classroom and arena
- ? There is no charge to participants, the program is fully funded via:
- Tax credit donations
- PTO support/fundraisers
- Grants

- Garden ?Dirt Day? Thursday 9/12 9-11am
- Bring your garden gloves, shovel, water to drink and help finish putting in the new liners and dirt into the raised garden beds. Kindergarten area is finished and looking great!
- Chick-Fil-A Spirit Night Thursday 9/12 from 5-7pm at Mayo/101 location only.
- 20 % comes back to HTES and will be used to provide the faculty a lunch during parent/teacher conference week.
- Spirit shirt sales: We sold about 375!
- Spirit Night: first one with Rubio?s/Cherry on Top over $550
- Book Fair: We sold a lot of affordable books!
- Parent Spirit shirts are for sale online now through Sept 23 – all proceeds will help buy the teachers and faculty the same shirt
- Square 1 Art project is underway in our art classroom with Mrs. Paysen, now throughSept. 27
- We expect to receive the ordering packets in early November so parents can order their child?s art on various things
- Mrs. Paysen seeking adult volunteers to help out in classroom to assist with students KG-2nd grades
